How many guests can the venue accommodate?
We can accommodate up to 250 guests total (including bridal party)
What is the cost to rent the venue?
We want your event to be as stress free as possible, and that starts with your investment. We have tried to be very transparent about the cost involved and have no hidden fees. Please visit the investment section of our website for more details about cost of venue rental.
What is required to reserve our date?
We require a non-refundable payment of 40% of your rental fee as well as the signed contract in order to reserve your date.
Can we come the day before to set up? Or come back the following day to clean up?
Since we frequently have other events scheduled , we do not allow set up or clean up the day before/after your event. We have tried to allow plenty of time the day of your event for set up/ clean up ; however you are permitted to have a wedding coordinator or family member come and set up for you. We just ask that this is communicated to us prior to the day of your event. We also offer a decorating service for an additional fee.
Will someone be on site during our event?
Yes -A venue manager will be on site for the duration of your event. Not only will we be able to provide assistance during your event to make sure everything runs smoothly, but we will also be there to greet vendors as they arrive.
Are we required to use particular vendors?
We have an open vendor policy, meaning you can use vendors of your choice for your event. Not sure where to start? We have a list of vendors we can recommend. For your peace of mind, we do encourage you to make sure your vendors have insurance.
Do you provide bar service?
Walnut & Main Event Space does not have a liquor license. Because of this, we are not permitted to sell alcohol (no cash bars permitted). You are permitted to purchase your own alcohol for the bar for your event; however, we do require a licensed bartender to serve the alcohol. We can provide 2 licensed bartenders for your event for an additional fee. We have a strict no glass bottles policy as well as not permitting shots to be served. In addition, alcohol is NOT permitted to be brought in by guests and will result in asking that guest to dispose of the alcohol they have chosen to bring and possibly leave the event.
Do you provide tables & chairs? Linens? Decor?
Yes - We provide 60” round tables (8 guests) and black chivari style chairs for guest seating as well as 8 foot banquet tables for bridal party, catering, etc. In addition we have a variety of tables for appetizers, cake/dessert, cards/gifts, etc. We will have tables and chairs set up for you the morning of your event. We provide linens (black or white) for an additional fee. We are also excited to offer The Main Collection - our large inventory of decor such as centerpieces, signs, easels, LED candles, table runners, lounge seating, and even an ice cream cart for an additional fee!
What limitations does the venue have for decor I may want to use?
One of our favorite parts of owning a venue is seeing how unique and personal the decor each event is. In order to protect our beautiful space, we do have a few guidelines that must be followed. We do not allow open flames to be used - only LED candles. Nothing is permitted to be hung on the walls, glass doors/windows, or beams throughout the space. Any decor used during the event must be removed at the conclusion of your rental time. We would be happy to meet with you to talk over your decor ideas, give you a tour of The Main Collection, or provide input on what works well in our space.
Are we permitted to use the patio space during our event?
Of course! The patio space can be accessed from the main event space, and is the perfect space for cocktails, a place to visit with friends, or late night snacks! We have provided cocktail tables and outdoor seating for guests to use.
Does Walnut & Main have its own parking lot?
Walnut & Main is located in a historic building on Main Street in Van Wert. Like most historic downtown buildings, parking lots were not a part of the original space. In the blocks surrounding the venue, there are over 140 street parking spaces as well as additional parking in small lots nearby. We would be happy to share a map of suggested parking areas with you to share with your guests.
Are we able to rent the space for a bridal shower? Rehearsal Dinner? Bridal brunch?
Walnut & Main is designed to host large gatherings. We do own an additional small event space - The Warehouse - 3 blocks away from Walnut & Main on North Washington Street. It is the perfect location for bridal showers, rehearsal dinners, or even a bridal brunch the morning before your wedding. Do you allow dogs?
We are dog lovers ourselves, but unfortunately cannot allow pets in the space during cocktail hour, appetizers, or dinner. If you are holding your wedding ceremony at Walnut & Main and would like to include your pet, we do allow you to bring it for the ceremony only. Dogs must be on leash at all times and we ask that someone other than the bride and groom is responsible for the dog during the ceremony. (*exceptions made for service dogs)
Is smoking permitted at the venue?
Walnut & Main is a smoke-free facility. We do not allow smoking of cigarettes, E cigarettes, cigars, or vaping inside the facility or on the patio. We ask that any guest who may need to smoke do so outside the main entrance and dispose of their cigarette butts safely.
